Hey there. Wow, this is the MAIN reason why I do not want to go and get my masters in the US (Even though I am a US citizen, but I have a HIJAB on. lol). It scares the living shit out of me, it actually makes me feel helpless and hopeless and all the negative emotions in the world. I just don’t see myself strong enough to stand in the face of words full of hate, better yet a hand to push, or even a gun full of bullets. It’s horrifying. I’m just glad things didn’t escalate in your scenario.
