Kim Jung Gii was a traditional and digital artist who could draw a cityscape with no photos or perspective lines to aid him (Hardesty and May, 2020). He was one of a few artists whose mental muscles were perfectly trained to draw a figure or a landscape with top-notch accuracy. The majority of us, as craftsmen, are bound to rely on reference pictures one way or another. Selecting the proper material to support your creative process is crucial for the final outcome.

The internet is abundant with visual content, but not all of it is suitable for our purposes. The important factors to consider while choosing a picture are:

Image Resolution

A hunt for reference pictures can be quite exhausting, as abundance does not equal quality. One of its indicators is a high resolution that is vital for both general shape and colour rendition as well as more thorough work on details. A blurry or pixelated image can hinder your ability to capture accurate elements and nuances in your work, therefore contributing to frustration or the poor quality of your final piece (Hammond, 2017).
