Black Royalty

In African American history, it all starts with slavery. This is understandable because of course the African “American” history began when Africans were brought to America. This was not our choice to do, everyone knows that Africans were brought here forcefully. They were forced to work the white people in terrible living spaces. However, our African roots go way farther back than this.
Back in Africa, they were many rulers, or “Kings and Queens”. Our ancestors were great rulers over their people. They found wealth and happiness all right where they were standing. This is a great example of making the best out of a situation. So since we were brought to America forcefully, we had to make the best out of the situation.
Black Royalty is any African American who has made an impact in all of society. To start off, of course Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. are Black Royalty. These two are royalty because they were both sophisticated, intelligent black men who helped the black movement go forward. This showed the public that not all black men were violent and unintelligent. These two were some of the main black people to pave the way for the rest of us.
Some examples of modern day Black Royalty would be people like Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Oprah. These three individuals have shown that whatever your circumstance is you will be able to overcome it and strive. Jay-Z grew up in the projects in Brooklyn, New York without a dad. All his childhood he was in a harsh environment, and many people doubted him and his ability to be able to make it out. Instead of letting that negativity consume him, he used it as a pedestal to push him to the next level. He is now one of the best selling musicians off all time. Beyonce shows that if you keep grinding and never give up on what you love, you will be able to conquer the world. Through her childhood she was constantly entering competitions to show off her voice Beyonce’s career took off when she was just sixteen years old. Since then she has been on top, being an iconic figure for black excellence. Oprah Winfrey also had a harsh childhood, maybe one of the worst, but she did not let this hold her down. She is known now as one of the richest, if not THE richest African American, she is a symbol of Black Royalty.
So throughout history and even in modern times today, black people have learned to strive in controversy. Throughout history it is apparent that there are a lot of situations that make it hard for black people to strive. However, it is in our DNA to endeavor in harsh situations. This is a huge part of our history. Making the best out of a bad situation IS Black Royalty.
