12 Steps to DIY Disco Lights

Let me guess, you have a part-time job and have saved up $500. You want to turn your living room into a Disco but you’re worried about how much it will cost. I’m here to tell you how to make shiny disco lights for your next party without breaking the bank. There are many ways to make disco lights, but here we’ll be using a few basic electronic components that you can find at your local electronics store or online.

The following materials are required:

DIY Disco Lights Materials

Arduino Uno (or similar microcontroller)

Power supply (5V)

RGB LED strip (5m)

USB cable

Acrylic sheets

Colored cellophane

DIY Disco Lights Steps

Step 1: Buy a few RGB LED strip lights. Prepare the above materials.

Step 2: Create a design.

Step 3: Assemble and mount the frame. Insert the acrylic sheets.

Step 4: Adjust the position of the acrylic plate to meet the effect you want.

Step 5: Paste the RGB LED strips on the acrylic plate frame.

Step 6: Buy things to make light colors (gel sheets or some colored cellophane).

Step 7: Cut out the gels so that they fit your lights. Tape the gels to your lights.

Step 8: Position your lights so that they create the effect you want.

Step 9: Adjust the frame, acrylic board, and LED strip to make it fixed and stable.

Step 10: Check whether the power supply, controller, RGB LED light strips, and USB cable are successfully connected.

Step 11: Adjust the controller to choose the lighting effect you want.

Step 12: Turn on the music, turn on the lights, move your body, and start your disco swing. Discotopia!
