Do All the Good You Can

"Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can." - John Wesley

This quote really got to me this week. As I examine my own life, I would like to think I do "good" things a majority of the time, but the truth is I am sinful. I am tainted with corruption. Evil thoughts, harsh words, and selfish actions could be the death of me if my soul had not been washed clean by my savior. I can only do good through Him. This made me realize that I need to make God a bigger priority, since it is through Him I am able to do good things in the first place.

The burning question that made me examine my heart the most is how often do I do good for ALL the people I can? We all know people who we might not consider our best friends, whose personalities clash with ours, but how often are we good to them? We can't pick and choose who we show God's love to, for we are called to love everyone. I know I struggle with this. Just because I don't hang out with a particular person does not mean I can't do something nice for them. It could be as simple as giving a compliment, smiling, or holding open a door.

So, I'm going to challenge myself to find at least one good thing I can do for somebody everyday. After all, isn't this what makes life worth living? :)
