How much can parallels to radio inform the development of Making?

Great question! When I think of radio and Internet, they seem designed for popular consumption while fewer and fewer have the means of production. Somehow the public are pigeonholed as consumers, and if the means of creating is available at all, it is only in the beginning until they are co-opted where possible by those who can make money doing the creating. In Making, I see a parallel in those who seek to profit in the business of Making: producers of kits, content, services, etc. So even Makers are still just consumers!
