And Playing the Role of Herself
Since I started to read F/F fictions, ‘And Playing the Role of Herself’ is by far my most favorite fiction. First, I want to tell you this book was published in 2007 and received many good reviews on Goodreads but I kind of wait until I ran out of good-reviewed lesbian romance books to read. Why? I have to confess here that I was being skeptical at first when I saw the cover of this book (you can check it out from the link above) because it quiet looked like an erotic book (couldn’t be more wrong) and even though I like reading hot and sexy scenes, I enjoy reading the normal but nice interaction between characters more. But when this book kept popping up on my suggested reading list I remembered I thought to my self ‘well just give it a shot, if you don’t like it you can just put it down, right?’
Big mistake guys and the poorest decision I had ever ever made!
“I WON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER EVER AGAIN.”
Caidence and Robyn, they both were Hollywood actresses and the lead characters of this story which is written from Caidence’s point of view only, but that doesn’t make their story to lose any depths by the way.

Caid has such a good sense of humor (made me smile and laugh along with her many times more than I can count), she is such a funny, witty and truly lovable character. And another lead character, Robyn, she can make you have a good kind of frustration and sometimes really make you want to shake some senses into her, but also sexy and cute at the same time (if you ask me though). The chemistry of these two is great and well developed, from start to finish there is no part in this book that is slow or bored me (actually I can’t even put it down).
There are enough twists and turns which is great because I am that kind of people who always try to guess what is going to happen in the next part but that is not the case here because it kept surprising me where I didn’t expect one.
This book is for light reading and have a good happy ending (which I prefer not to have an end, I fall hard for this book)
Even after I finished this book and found other great fictions later on, it still continues to held a special place in my heart. And I have repeated reading this story like three or four (or more…) times already especially when I feel like I miss them and want to meet old friends (Liz included, the best friend of Caid).
Thank you K.E. Lane for making such a good romantic novel for people like me, I hope and wait to see more novels from you in the future (please, a plea from the deepest of my heart)
Below is the official description at the back cover of this book
“ Actress Caidence Harris is living her dreams after landing a leading role among the star-studded, veteran cast of 9th Precinct, a hot new police drama shot on location in glitzy LA. Her sometimes-costar Robyn Ward is magnetic, glamorous, and devastatingly beautiful, the quintessential A-List celebrity on the fast-track to super-stardom. When the two meet on the set of 9th Precinct, Caid is instantly infatuated but settles for friendship, positive that Robyn is both unavailable and uninterested. Soon Caid sees that all is not as it appears, but can she take a chance and risk her heart when the outcome is so uncertain? ”
I recommend anyone who like reading female/female fiction to check this book out. You won’t regret it guys, I promise.
Seriously just check it out!
May we meet again… see ya :)
