Pedro Rodrigues Filho, born on 29th October 1954 and tragically meeting his end on 5th March 2023, was a notorious figure in the criminal world. Known by several chilling monikers such as “Pedrinho Matador,” “Killer Lil’ Pedro,” “Killer Killer Petey,” or simply “Killer Petey,” he left an indelible mark on Brazil’s history as a serial killer, spree killer, and vigilante.

The Vigilante Years: A Reign of Terror

In his teenage years, between the ages of 14 and 19, Rodrigues embarked on a chilling crusade. His gruesome mission was to hunt down and execute individuals he suspected to be criminals. His descent into vigilantism was triggered by a heinous crime — the murder of his pregnant girlfriend. Fueled by revenge, he sought to deliver his own form of justice.

Officially, Rodrigues was sentenced for 71 murders, but he claimed to have taken the lives of over 100 drug dealers, rapists, and murderers during his reign of terror. For these heinous acts, he paid a heavy price — 34 years behind bars, equating to approximately 25 weeks for each murder. His release finally came in 2007.

The Rollercoaster of Freedom

Rodrigues’ freedom was short-lived. In 2011, he found himself back behind bars, this time on charges of inciting riot and deprivation of liberty. Sentenced to eight years in prison, he once again managed to secure his release in 2018, this time for good behavior after serving seven years.

A Remarkable Transformation

Following his second release in 2018, Rodrigues surprised the world with a transformation that few expected. He publicly renounced his past as a vigilante and committed to a life free from crime. Instead, he turned to the digital world, becoming a YouTuber with his channel, “Pedrinho EX Matador.” Through this platform, he commented on modern crimes, campaigned against gang violence, and emphasized the importance of not glorifying criminal acts.

Tragic End

Sadly, Pedro Rodrigues Filho’s story took a tragic turn on 5th March 2023. He was shot and killed by two unidentified assailants who opened fire from a car in Mogi das Cruzes. The perpetrators fled the scene in another vehicle, leaving behind unanswered questions. To this day, no suspects have been arrested in connection with his murder.

A Legacy in Popular Culture

Rodrigues’ life and crimes have not only shocked Brazil but also left a lasting impact on popular culture. Author Jeff Lindsay was inspired by his story, leading to the creation of the iconic character Dexter Morgan in the novel series “Dexter.” This character’s success extended to a television adaptation in 2006 and a revival in 2021, further cementing Rodrigues’ status as the “Brazilian Dexter” and the “South American Punisher.”

In addition to the world of literature and television, Rodrigues also became the inspiration for characters in the Danganronpa manga series. His name found its way into books such as “Serial Killers — Made in Brazil,” alongside other infamous criminals, solidifying his place in true crime history.

In conclusion, Pedro Rodrigues Filho’s life was marked by darkness and violence, but it ended in a tragic twist. From his early years as a vigilante to his unexpected transformation into a YouTuber advocating against crime, his story continues to captivate and horrify audiences worldwide.
