Week 2: Organization communication

First of all, what is communication? Communication is a process of exchanging and sharing ideas and information. When it comes to commutation, interpertation becomes very important.

There are four great challenges, which are globalization, terrorism, climate change, and demographics.

Globalization is one of the problems today because our world is more connected now than it ever has been before on personal and organizational levels. For examples, privacy issues, there are more audience, employer can check your social network such as FaceBook, and you are always connected with your boss. When space and time is truncated and condensed, respecting the time zone will be the key to communicate effectively. Knowing that people interpreate thing differently will help you communicate effectively in a multicultural setting.

Second problem is terrorism. Their communication methods are by codes, chain of command, video, message, social network, and the chat app that is created by them. It is important for the government to collect the data that is on social network to protect citizens and national borders.

The third problem is climate change; global warming. Having a debates over policy and collaboration of each organizations and communicating to the public about the “greening” of an organization will be the key point.

Finally, the shift of demographics. More population of hispanic, lower percentage of households with married couples, more residence in urban areas, and higher percentage of people age over 65 are the problems of demographics. This is because they have to think how to advertise to a larger audience with different ages groups, gender, and culture. Therefore, it is important to consider what are the communication patterns and needs of individuals from different back grounds.
