In this analysis I dig deeper into some of the design elements of websites that I visit and use on a daily basis. This is my attempt to explore the user experience of two websites that work and one that doesn’t, and why?

We already know, that as Designers to create good design it is imperative to have certain elements in your creation. Does the design solve a design problem? Does it convey clearly what is was created to convey? To create a successful design we aim to have some of the basic principles of design in our work — visual hierarchy, dominance, color contrast and consistency to name a few.
As a product designer we not only need to think of the design principle but also have to think of user experiences. Does the product work =DOES IT FUNCTION? Does it work as well and consistently every time one tries to use it = IS IT RELIABLE? Is the product easy to use, is it intuitive — IS IT USABLE? Does the product give the user more than what they expected, does it simply satisfy them or does it go beyond and exceed their expectation? = IS IT PROFICIENT? Last but not the least, is your product aesthetically pleasing to the eye, interactive yet easy to navigate?=IS IT CREATIVE?

My analysis will be based on some of these Design Hierarchy of Needs, but will also include my thoughts on why I think the design aspect of the product works or doesn’t work, for me as a user.

  1. HUGEINC.COM
Landing page for Hugeinc.com, a full service advertising agency.

Huge is a Full service ad agency that originated in New York but has offices in Atlanta, Chicago and some other cities as well. I believe they do brilliant, creative and innovative work which reflects on their website as well.

2. HULU.COM

Landing page for hulu.com

Hulu is a U.S.-based subscription video on demand service. While the users of this website range from ages 10–70 years, they do a remarkable job in keeping the website easy to navigate and extremely well integrated.

3. E-VISA INDIA

Landing page for indian e-visa services’ website

E-Visa India is the website used for Indian E-visa applications. This e-visa is convenient for visitors planning on travelling to India since they can get a visa online, without having to ship their passport to any consulate or agency. Nor do they have to leave the comfort of their home to apply for a visa.
