Attitudes, or the Rules?

I was in Brunei the other days, and theres one thing tht captured my heart solely for good. Theres this one & only part in Muara-Tutong Highway that hv a traffic light & a 70km/h sign on, so every passerby hv to follow the rule of driving at the exact mark.

It was all started due to an accident that happened months ago. The incident that got viral on Facebook, the one yang tunjuk Sultan Brunei turun daripada kereta & tolong mangsa kemalangan tu. Yep since then, Sultan insists on keeping the rule that way.

But that wasnt the issue, I was just literally amazed on their attitudes. Every vehicle that went by the road (as far as I’m concerned) DID followed the rules. Semua patuh dengan kelajuan yang ditetapkan. Everyone tend to slow down even when theres no other car going ahead the way, even if theres no police at the roadside waiting to summon you, and even if theres no AES working to witness you.

So aku teringat masa mula mula AES diperkenalkan dulu. Ramai orang yang kecam, orang cakap ni semua makan duit rakyat, letak AES sebab senang boleh saman lagi ramai orang lepastu govt kaya. Same goes, bila parking dekat tempat yang tak sepatutnya. Bila polis datang saman, kita marah polis balik. So I wonder whats the real problem is. Is it because of our attitudes or is it the rules that controls us? & yes, bukan semua orang tak ikut peraturan, some did & you should get an applause for that hehe

Talking about AES, cuba kita drive ikut kelajuan yg sepatutnya, saman tak keluar. UNLESS, kita tetap kena saman even dah slow down. Then yes, fight. Bila kita park dekat tempat salah, & kena saman. Bukan salah kita ke? UNLESS, the police asks for bribe, then go & do the report. Otherwise, wasnt it all started with our own attitudes? Kita yang tak patuh?

Some of us tend to keep on blaming the rules but we forgot to educate ourselves on following them, for good. Maybe we should try to stop digging out issues, & look deeply inside us. Our attitudes.
