What can I do for Bangalore?
If you’re one of those who love the city, but feel the pain of rampant destruction, here’s what you can do-
- Contribute or Volunteer for the Lake Revivers Collective
2. Volunteer for Anand Malligavad and help him in rejuvenating lakes-
3. Follow people like Sandeep Anirudhan who highlight and fight social issues without any support. All they need is your support.
4. Spend a weekend with SayTrees, plant a tree and see how fabulously they have created Miyawaki Forests in Bangalore. And they don’t focus on just Bangalore.
5. Contribute and support Jhatkaa. They have a lot of work that you can do at home as well.
6. Volunteer for Jhatkaa’s garbage burning campaign. Only when thousands raise their voice together does the government understand.
7. Become a Traffic Warden with the Bangalore Traffic Police. Yes, wear that cool uniform and participate in managing traffic.
Here are some people you can look upto-
8. Participate in Whitefield Rising’s initiative to complete a tree census to prevent illegal cutting-
9. Participate in protests (at least online!)-
A city of over 80 lakh people just saw 2500 protestors for the elevated corridor-
And just a handful for Suburban railway..
10. Clean up the city’s trash with The Ugly Indian-
11. If you can’t pick up someone else’s trash, then just make sure you segregate yours properly- WET AND DRY! Because if you don’t then someone else will, FOR YOU.
12. If you see the above truck, give the workers a hand sanitiser, some N95 masks, and gloves.
And for the lazy ones-
13. Report traffic violations on the BTP app-

14. Report any civic issues to BBMP and follow up with them. More the number of people complaining about an issue, faster the action.
15. Support Suburban Railway-

16. For the home seekers-
Don’t ask whether there is a swimming pool or a gym in the society, ask how many trees will be planted by the builder instead. Ask for a Miyawaki forest!
And for the CRAZY ONES-
17. Buy reflective tape, and stick it on medians as well as beginning of flyovers to prevent accidents. Your little effort can save someones life.
And for the leaders-
18. Start your own initiative.
And if you feel that there are enough volunteers for any of the above organisations, remember, that they are probably looking for people like you who can lead.
YOUR IDEAS. YOUR MOTIVATION. YOUR CALIBRE. YOUR PASSION can transform Bengaluru.
Because when people fight alone, they are crushed.
