6 Must-See Countries in Europe
There are so many incredible countries to visit in Europe, that it can be hard to pick where you want to go. Amongst the countries in Europe, there can also be great differences between the cultures, people, and attractions, so you should aim for variety in the countries you decide to visit. You’ll find a lot of diversity between the natural landscape of the countries themselves, from warm beaches to fields and forests to huge mountain ranges. You can take a trip of a few days to Europe, or spend months traveling the continent. As you plan your travels, take a look at some of the must-see countries of Europe and hopefully, you’ll stop in a few of them.
Italy is one of the classic countries that you should visit. You’ll be treated to ancient architecture that is oftentimes more advanced than most of what’s found in Northern Europe. Southern Italy has gorgeous beaches and warm weather you’ll be able to enjoy at any time throughout the year. A city you have to visit is Rome, where you’ll find incredible art and architecture and eat fantastic food.
2. Czech Republic (Czechia)
The Czech Republic only came onto the tourism radar in the last decade or so. After the end of communism, it was easier to travel there, but their tourism industry was just beginning. Now, you can easily find places to stay and it’s much more affordable than many other European countries. Make sure to head to Prague, which is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. You can also visit Brno and Plzen if you want to avoid other tourists.
Much like the Czech Republic, travelers only began visiting Iceland fairly recently. In every other way, Iceland is incredibly different from the Czech Republic. This country has one major city, Reykjavik, that sits on the water’s edge. Iceland is also one of the friendliest and safest countries and is easy to travel across to take in all the different sights. Make sure you take the time to head north and see the Northern Lights!
If you can get a travel visa to Russia, it’s definitely worth the visit. You’ll see incredible architecture, like St. Basil’s Cathedral, whose silhouette is one of the most recognizable in Russia. Visit St. Petersburg and Moscow and drive through the expansive Russian countryside. You’ll find a different way of life that will prove to be fascinating, as well as a rich history.
Ireland has incredible natural attractions. You won’t be able to get enough of the rolling green hills that stretch as far as the eye can see. Try to fit in a drive along the coast while you’re in this country and stop at the cliffs of Moher. You can take a ferry around the bottom of the cliffs and then head up to the top to see a breathtaking view. Don’t forget to visit some of the pubs in Dublin or stroll through Trinity College.
In Switzerland, you have the option of visiting great cities, like Zurich, Geneva, or Lucerne. If you don’t feel like spending time in a city, you can choose from plenty of small towns throughout the countryside, many that sit on or near incredible mountains or lakes. Find time to check out Lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps and you’ll see incredible sights.
