If you are interested in what we are doing at One Degree it has probably occurred to at least some of you that there is more to the idea of One Degree than meets the eye. In fact I have been waiting for the question, which I have only heard implicitly up to this point that, “It’s not just about photography is it”?

Indeed it is not.

Expanding on this post I posit that Photography is simply the first layer of the One Degree Application. If the App is going to attract serious attention then it is going to need other layers. Any person with a service based business that wants to earn more revenue and reach more customers by broadcasting their availability to do a job RIGHT NOW will benefit from having the One Degree App on their mobile device.

Here are just a few examples of services that that clients may need Right Now. Each could be its own layer, ie. a searchable category of service and each may represent a service provider that works remotely, comes to your location or is available at their physical location RIGHT NOW.

• Photojournalist
• Journalist
• Any Film Crew Position
• Personal Trainer
• Spa Services
• Auto Mechanic
• Bicycle Mechanic
• Furniture Repair
• Delivery Service
• Maid
• Doctor
• Chef
• Dog Walker
• . . . ETC.

What is important about this model is that the service providers MUST be available on demand if they so indicate in the App. There will be monitoring and something like a three strikes rule (ie. If you show yourself available and decline a job three times in a row then you’re account will be suspended for X number of days).

It is our hope to expand One Degree with additional layers later this year and for it to become the preferred method of Search for Services in the near future.

After all, if you can find the Product you want Right Now and have it delivered Today, why not the Service you want Right Now, right now?
