Now available in the Apple App Store, Rainbow Rooster is a camera-based color matching game that’s scored by artificial intelligence.

As Pokémon GO taught us, there’s more to gaming than just the screen. Rainbow Rooster continues the off-screen tradition, inviting you to play this addictive color matching game when you have a few moments while stuck in line at the coffee shop.

In Rainbow Rooster, players are presented an Instagram-like interface in which they must use their cameras to match the challenges as closely as possible. Players are scored by how well the colors of their picture match the source and are given “rainbow points” accordingly.

On top of the color match points, players are also graded by an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system that compares the objects in the source image with the player’s.

As an example, suppose the original image is a sky with a red hot air balloon. If you took a picture of the sky, you’d earn a bonus “rooster”. If you were able to include something red in your photo too, you’d earn a high rainbow score.

To pass a level you need a certain score composed of Rainbow Points and Roosters. Images in each level are thematically grouped, for instance all of level two is “sky” themed, level three is “stars”, etc. Occasionally you may get solid color images which will test your image matching skills.
