You know that feeling after a long day of work and you get to see the finished result? Ahhhhh, success!

But what about that feeling after a long day of work and you do not see any results from it? You just feel extra tired and a bit unsuccessful.

We can see the same scenario in the life of Peter, a disciple of Jesus. ‘COME AWAKE’ is inspired by what Jesus did for Peter to awake him from his tiredness, unsuccessful work, and his lack of freedom to live a life of fullness.

Jesus can and will do the same for us!

Peter was tired from a long night of work

Jesus will give you rest — Psalms 37:7 says, “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently on Him”.

What does this rest mean? It means to take a leisure walk, like Adam and Eve did with Heavenly Father in the garden. Jesus will give us rest as we walk with Him.

Peter was unsuccessful

Isaiah 52:13 says, “See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.”

The word ‘Wisely’ in this verse means to be successful. What was Jesus view of success? Is it the same as our view of success?

Jesus’ said in John 12:32, “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

So when Jesus thought of success, He had being crucified in mind. His definition of success was to lose his life. What irony…

Why does God allow us to be so unsuccessful in different areas of our lives? Does He want us to be tortured like He was? Humiliated? Or does He allow this to happen so it can change our view on what life is actually about?

Luke 9:23–24 says, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”

Acts 10:36 says, “Jesus is Lord of all”.

Jesus should me our Master over every part of our lives. He knows how to do it better, even ‘fishing’.

Peter needed freedom from himself

Luke 5:8 says, “When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord, I am a sinful man!””

But Jesus woke him up from His tiredness, from his unsuccessful pursuit of life, from himself and said, “COME”!

God wants to awake you…. He is saying, “Come, Awake”!
