What to expect from Manny on Medium

Why here and now?

For a while I’ve been wanting another creative outlet to express my thoughts, questions and opinions on various topics I’m interested in beyond my podcast and twitch stream.
I chose Medium at the advice of some friends, instead of trying to deploy and maintain my own blog platform. It will also be another way for me to practice my writing skills and build my online presence.
This first post is mostly an introduction so I can hit publish and get my first post out of the way. So here’s to shipping it! 🥂

Who do I intend as my readers?

My intended audience is largely designers, engineers and product folks in the tech space. More broadly those who are interested in geeking out and creating dialogs around some of the topics we may have in common.

What will I write about?

I have lots of thoughts and things I wanna say, but not always the best at expressing them in writing. Expect a mix of shorter form and longer form content, with a mixture of rants, unsolicited opinions, and thinking out loud. I’ve been interested in writing on topics like:

  • Design (and its many disciplines)
  • Web Development
  • UX Research
  • Education (learning and teaching)
  • Personal finance
  • Human-computer interaction (HCI)
  • Tech industry trends
  • Inclusive design
  • Accessibility and universal usability
  • …and maybe more!

Some articles and working titles I have in the queue right now include:

  • The gap between Design and Engineering
  • Discovering design talent in the most unexpected places
  • Design and perception
  • Usability of chat interfaces and generative AI prompts

When will my next post go live?

Not sure at this time, my goal is to start slow and make it sustainable so I can be as consistent as possible.

Where else can you find my content?

My personal site and Polywork are great starting points to learn more about me and my interests.

I stream design and web development live on twitch, which is often where I share what I’m creating and think out loud. If you’re into co-working, UX engineering, or just lurking and hanging out stop by! I love chatting with folks!

I’m fairly active on twitter @mannimoki, you can reach out there directly. Assuming it doesn’t implode in the near future, follow me! 😅
