Why Brexit, Trump reflect the state of the world.
It’s not just terrorism that reflects that people feel disconnected.
Politics is about reflecting the voice of society.
Single issue parties be it the Green Party or UKIP can make a bigger impact as they voice the concerns far more effectively than main stream left or right wing parties like labour or the conservatives.
The fact is that the public cannot identify with the main stream safe parties
So people like Trump have the marmite factor. You either love it or hate it.
The middle ground and nice and safe does create passion be it to vote or act.
Boris raised the issue for middle England, what does it mean to be English and people reflected the identity issue and ignore the perceived benefits of being part of a bigger Union.
At heart we all need to feel we belong to a tribe and we belong. The EU is too disconnected a concept.
How many people say I am a Europeon.
In any case people alway react badly if the feel they are being told that if they don’t vote in a particular way they will lose out.
We live in a very different work both technologically but culturally and socially.
The new norm is to expect the unexpected and black swan events are not just to do with weather or financial markets.
A few days ago a friend of mine was busy making contingency plans about Brexit. While as a professional he like almost…reeinvent.me
So we need to prepare to expect the unexpected.
