Thanks to requests and feedback from our active and smart users — we have made a few updates to Planner integration in Microsoft Teams. Yes we heard you on User Voice — Thank you and please keep the feedback coming as we continue to make your Microsoft Teams experience better!

The following three features were released to the Planner tab:

1. Multi-assignment

In a dynamic team, tasks are often assigned to more than one person to collaborate in small groups and get things done. It is equally important to track the assignment at a multi-person level as well. Now you can do that on a per task basis. Simply continue to assign a task to more than one co-worker in the assignment field.

2. Quickly reference a Planner task in conversations

Imagine you have a Planner board with lots of tasks in it, and you want to reference a specific task in your conversation within Microsoft Teams. This could be to get a status update on task, debate the assignment or simply discuss the nature of the task in the context of a project. Wouldn't it be great if you can just add a direct link to that particular task from the Planner tab in your conversation?

Well now you can — and in just a few steps! here’s how:

Copy Link from within Task Details Menu on top right
  1. Go to Planner Tab in your Team > Channel
  2. Click on the Task that you need a direct link for to reference
  3. Click on the ellipses (…) on the top right of the task
  4. Click on Copy link to task
  5. Press Ctrl + C (windows) or Cmd + C (mac OS) to copy the link
  6. Paste it in the compose box within your conversation to give team full context — when someone clicks on the link, they’ll land directly on to the task within the Planner tab
Paste the link along with task name while composing the message

3. Link out to full Planner board directly from Microsoft Teams

Now you can click on the Go to website icon on the top right of Planner tab within Microsoft Teams and land directly into your plan within Planner’s Web Experience. That is the second to the last icon from top right.

Go to Website link on top right of Planner tab that takes you to Planner Web Experience

Please note that for some of the tabs pinned before general availability (March 14) direct links to tasks or to Planner web experience may not work correctly. While we are working to fix that issue as well, here’s an easy work-around:

Remove the tab and add it again. While re-adding the tab, make sure to select the option to “use an existing plan.”

As always, please keep sending us your valuable feedback and feel free to reach out to me or Suphatra Rufo on twitter for questions around Microsoft Teams. We are here to help!
