A worry shared (although perhaps not halved). Platforms aren’t without their own tilt, and if we take Instant Articles as an example we might see how it rewards commodity news, explainers, and the week’s new medical fad (sunlight!). What happens to newsroom culture and reader culture after a sustained period of this? Even as an outsider, I know that the kind important journalism you mention above requires time, money, and support; do we not lose something great if this fades? That was rhetorical: yes, it matters to a society’s bottom line. But does Facebook’s bottom line suffer? That’s less rhetorical, but…
