Kathryn Newton takes viewers into the horrifying world of Radio Silence’s Abigail with a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming movie’s production, presenting the blood-filled feature that awaits moviegoers once the monster horror comedy hits theaters on April 19.
The Lisa Frankenstein actress showcased the gory ambiance in the set of Abigail, as well as a pool full of dead bodies, which the actress describes as “the worst place in the world.”
Loosely based on Dracula’s Daughter, Abigail serves as Universal’s latest attempt to bring a classic monster back to the big screen. The film will center on a group of criminals as they kidnap a young girl, only to find out the girl is a vampire who would stop at nothing to kill them.
Abigail stars Newton as Sammy, Alisha Weir as Abigail, Melissa Barrera as Joey, Dan Stevens as Frank, William Catlett as Rickles, Kevin Durand as Peter, Giancarlo Esposito as Lambert, and the late Angus Cloud as Dean, who will star posthumously in one of his last roles before his untimely passing.
The official synopsis for Abigail reads: “After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight,” the official synopsis reads. “In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.”
Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Abigail hails from producers William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, James Vanderbilt, Tripp Vinson, and Chad Villella. The executive producers are Ron Lynch and Macdara Kelleher, with Stephen Shields and Guy Busick serving as the film’s writers.
