Out With The New, In With The Old

Beth Drennen was one of the first makers I spoke to when we launched Mantry. She has a distinctive southern drawl and always picks up the phone before the second ring. Beth and her husband Ronnie run Broadbent Ham & Hickory Smoked Bacon, which in 2009 celebrated its 100 year anniversary. Now, at Mantry we are on the hunt for the hottest new makers, food trends and products popping up across America. But it’s also about dusting off the old makers who’ve been doing it right for decades and putting them back on display. We sometimes forget that in a world obsessed with newness, new phones, new restaurants, new double stuffed crust pizza, the old stuff has stood the test of time for a reason.

Thanks for starting off year 4 with us (only 96 more to go!) and yes, Sriracha and Kale may come and go but bacon lasts forever.
