We live in a changing world as the consumer internet is giving rise to a new generation of science-based innovations with the potential to redefine industries, as well as our relationship with the planet and each other.

As a society we are on the edge. Technologies like AI, IoT, Machine Learning or Blockchains can unlock significant value, as well as create positive impact. Yet a lot of us are also skeptical or afraid about the impact of those technologies.

Will tomorrow´s Big Brother become even BIGGER than today? Will the robots take our jobs? Are we really solving systemic problems or are we simply tending to cosmetic symptoms? Borrowing from Lampedusa´s Gattopardo: Are we changing everything to keep everything the same?

As these technologies continue to open our collective imaginations and achieve what was previously impossible, we need to seize the opportunities to shape the Earth we want to live in, create new opportunities to share/protect data and what we really want to leave to robots in artificial intelligence scenarios.

Some exciting initiatives:

Because we believe in the potential of individuals and the power of groups we want to be part of shaping a better world. It is why we created “DTDG: Deep Tech, Do Good” Meetup. The purpose is to open a space to bring together the DeepTech and Sustainability communities of Berlin and build an Inspiration Bazaar for disciplinary cross-pollination.

As the city itself, DTDG is at the intersection of technology, creativity and activism. Whether you are a veteran data scientist, microbiologist, social entrepreneur or impact investor, you are welcome.

Our launch/first event will occur July 20th, 2017 and host a lively discussion with special guests followed by networking opportunity.

Best regards,

Manuel & Julien (juLien Fredonie)
