Digital Twin
A very interesting Digital Twin presentation by RzR.
It all started with a (warning: French!) now defunct project based upon VRML.
Digital Twin is, simply put, a 3D modelization of a real-world object which allows people to interact with newin new and sometimes unexpected ways.
Microsoft already has as an Azure Digital Twins PaaS, and Google just started promoting its Digital Twin Supply Chain tool (which does precisely this, with machines used in the supply chain industry).
Augmented Reality
The Lost Ocean smartphone application allows visitors of the corresponding National Natural History Museum exhibition to see long-extinct animals swimming around them!
Right now, with Facebook/Meta promoting its Metaverse; Augmented-Reality glasses and Virtual-Reality headsets becoming popular, the City of Seoul and Carrefour announcing their follow-up of the concept, the topic is hotter than ever.
