The surprise resignation of Michael Anderson two days ago has sparked a row over the leadership in Tradition, leaving the state’s future uncertain.

The President did not give a reason for his resignation, but he did tip Order Commander and temporary Freedom leader Venkat Lowry as his successor.

This would be an unorthodox move, giving Commander Lowry unprecedented control over three states.

Tradition’s opposition leader, Ewald Spiker, has raised a legal challenge against Commander Lowry’s eligibility, which must be concluded before an election can take place. Commander Lowry has confirmed that he will fight the case, which is scheduled to begin at the Tradition Supreme Court within weeks.

Interim leader Della Gale has confirmed that she will stand for election, but declined to comment on the ongoing case between Commander Lowry and Mr. Spiker.

What is Ewald Spiker’s legal argument?

The Marble States constitution says that all States will have their own leadership. However, it isn’t clear whether this prohibits leaders from taking up multiple positions at once.

Mr. Spiker’s lawyers hold that it does, while Commander Lowry’s team is likely to take the position that there can be overlap in leaders as long as each State’s individual political system is upheld independently.

Legal observers and scholars are divided on the case, which treads territory not previously explored in States’ courts.

Who is likely to run in the upcoming election?

The only currently confirmed candidate is Interim President Gale.

Given Commander Lowry’s interest in defending his position in court, it’s expected that he will run if Mr. Spiker’s challenge is unsuccessful.

As the leader of the opposition, Mr. Spiker is expected to participate, but has not yet confirmed whether the outcome of his legal case will have a bearing on his own candidacy.

Jump CEO Alba Combs has also indicated interest in starting his own campaign, but has not yet submitted a formal application.

Where is Michael Anderson?

President Anderson has not appeared in public since his resignation, and his team has not responded to multiple requests for comment from GBN Network.

Despite the confusion and uncertainty, they have issued no further statements to the Tradition public or to the wider States.
