An interesting article, though I would like to remind the author that there still is one fundamental difference between Apple and Google: with Apple, the services exists to support the hardware, whereas in Google’s case the hardware supports the usage of their services. Knowing this helps to understand why the two companies do not need to be enemies.

This focus on hardware is one of the few things that keeps Apple a better choice. It isn’t Apple or Android, it’s Apple or LG, Apple or Samsung, Apple or– well, you get the idea. And this is where Apple still shines, is that with their devices we can speak of craftsmanship.

I think this is the biggest change at Apple, which isn’t really a change – we just never noticed it. Apple was not so much an innovator in technology, but it was always best in bringing craftsmanship into the hardware game.
