Houston Exponential raises $25M fund of funds to bolster city’s tech scene — Link

“Houston Exponential announced the first closing of HX Venture Fund with $25 million in commitments from nine companies: Insperity, Chevron Corp., Royal Dutch Shell, Quanta Services, Westlake Chemical Co., the Plank Companies, PROS, H-E-B and Camden Property Trust.”

The closing of the HX Venture Fund is a big deal for Houston as it will help provide capital to startups through qualified venture firms. It’s remarkable that the fund had its first close almost a year earlier than expected due to the tireless efforts of the HX staff — and Jon Norby in particular.
