The problem with this graph, coming from a statistician and not a climate denier, is that the sources for the ‘Global Land Surface Temperature’ are not accurate over the time length of the graph. Starting in 1978, the main temperature is calculated using extrapolated satellite data of the Pacific Ocean. Prior to 1978 Pacific Ocean data is not used and when the it is removed from 1978 to present, the hockey stick aspect of the graph is gone. The temperatures still increase, but not with the pike shown.
