I realise now that this question does not make a lot of sense, and that the answer is ‘yes’. Replicators can be used for any intermediate interaction between two (or more) state containers, and the specifics of how they transact that data is based on custom logic provided by the author, that bases itself on the key that was changed, the action that was fired, and the current/next version of the store’s state.

Leaving it here for others that might be learning about replicators.
