What is your canvas?

Your brain can hold between four and nine pieces of information at one time.

Four to five if you’re learning something new.

Seven to nine if its something you’re familiar with.

It’s clear how helpful a notepad and pen can be when performing cognitive-heavy tasks. Everyone needs a trusted method of storing information or a canvas on which to brain dump.

The beautiful thing about working with a trusted note-taking medium for an extended period of time is that you begin to find your own creative style for taking notes. For me, it’s a dump of thoughts followed by a right-brain doodle.

Or an intimate combination of both.
