Thank you for an exceptionally thoughtful and insightful piece. As a father of two remarkable daughters, it pains me to read or hear these feelings and truths. Your awareness and refusal to be subjugated by “rules” made by a patriarchy gives me hope. Anger caused my resentments that kept me living in the past on my life’s journey. Now as I learn to live each day at a time I have begun to find peace. I share this with you and other daughters, as well as my own, not to preach but to understand, comfort and love expecting nothing.
