Love the post and live D3. I use scales all the time. I think we miss something like d3fiddle though to make it more accessible to people. There is the problem with data also which is loaded separately, inducing all kinds of CORS issues. I am currently working on a platform project to teach and develop data-driven JavaScript apps. Would be happy to work with you on that.
