Having idols

We’re all of equal value and I think that the concept of having idols goes against this. We start putting people on pedestals and thinking that they’re better than us.

A big downside from this is that we can fall into the trap of thinking that we’re not good enough, or not as good as they are. With this mentality it’s hard to pursue our dreams, because we don’t see ourselves succeeding. There’s potential in everybody. We see it in our idols, but we fail to see it in ourselves.

Also, this can lead to thinking that somehow those people’s lives are perfect. Nobody’s life is perfect. Everybody has problems and everybody makes mistakes, the important part is to learn. It’s important to not think that our lives aren’t good because they don’t seem as fun as whatever part of our idol’s lives we get to see. What we get to see is just a part and usually it’s the better part.

Regardless of who we are, we all have potential in us.

Anyway, these were my thoughts on the matter, what do you think? Let me know!
