Thoughts on: Taking breaks

It seems that in the world of getting to be successful there’s only one speed: go fast. If you go looking for motivational quotes, you’ll find your fair share of “work 24/7”, “hustle”, “grind”, etc. I have yet to find a ‘motivational’ quote that says “take a break once in a while”. Maybe I’ve been looking in the wrong places.

Now, I’m not saying that working hard is bad. I think working in great, I believe in finding out what you’re capable of doing. I also believe that being overworked is a possibility.

There’s more. I think that working hard could lead to the mentality of putting off well being for tomorrow. “I’ll make some sacrifices today, so I can be happier tomorrow” we’ll think. That alone isn’t bad, but I think it would be good to enjoy the journey as much, if not more, than the destination.

Play the long game. Working all the time will get you tired and your work won’t be as good. If you take breaks once in a while you’re making sure you have the energy to keep working for longer.

Anyway, these were some of my thoughts on taking breaks. I just went through something similar and wanted to write about it. Let me know what your thoughts on this are!

The comic for this thought is here!
