Most of what you write is contrary to everything freeCodeCamp and Quincy Larson stand for.

Not everybody has the resources or time to get a University degree, many are employed full time and are looking for a way to change careers. I don’t think anyone going this route expects to land a managing role as their first dev job; in fact, many are willing to give up a steady employment and accept a junior position with a lower salary just for the opportunity to get into tech.

Unlike most industries, the tech industry provides a huge amount of free resources for anyone to learn, and this is the purpose of this article. This helps lowering the entry barrier, but it still requires a lot of effort to learn and practice new skills, while juggling a day job, responsibilities and a family and children.

If anything, a self-learner applying for a developer job shows that they’re not the ones who shy away in front of difficulties and are not looking for shortcuts. Of course they lack some basics that are taught at university, but most things can be learned at a later stage, especially if you’re hired as a junior.

Then of course, you will find lazy as well as motivated people everywhere, regardless the degree…
