Snapchat Still Leads in Teen Usage
Snapchat was recently acquired by Facebook who changed some of it’s core features. Snapchat went public since this acquisition and its growth has been at a stalemate. Reports are showing that Snapchat has been declining users everyday, but could still on the rise. According to an article posted by SocialMediaToday, Snap’s younger crowd is still growing and is expected to keep growing. Facebook’s decline in young users will, in a way, be made up by those advancements being made by Snapchat.
The advertisements Snapchat provides to their users can also play a large role in the future success of the app. Since its users are young, it’s advertisements should be directed towards its audience in order to maximize profits. Teens may not obtain the money to be able to shop like adults can. This is evident in the numbers, given that Snapchats advertisement campaign has not been very strong, up to date. Research, done by eMarketer, has predicted that snapchats users between the ages of 18–24 will surpass that of Facebook by the end of 2018.
Some of Snapchat’s strategies to close this gap they are having in the marketing and advertisement department is to launch a ‘Location Categories’, which allows its users to access specific locations. This feature will also come with a way for stores to track how many people have targeted them. This article discusses the possible volatility that surrounds Snapchat, but also shows it’s potential for success.
