Letter: How can you help?
An update and request in regards to making spaces to talk about mental health
I hope your 2019 is going well so far.
I just thought I’d do a quick update. It’s been over a year now since I got the Ministry of Change van and set out to have conversations with people about mental health, navigating life and what it means to be human.
So far I have uploaded 33 episodes of the podcast, so you can listen to many of those amazing conversations there.
I am a one man band, so a lot of time and energy (and learning through trial and error!) goes into recording and editing each episode, as well as the blog posts, poetry and reflective essays that complement the podcast on the website. That isn’t to say that I don’t love doing this — I do. I really do. It feels important. In fact, I’d love to be able to dedicate more time to it.
I’m using Patreon to try and build up some semblance of financial sustainability to enable me to do that. At the moment it is a small fraction of the income I’d need to support myself (so I also work as a host and facilitator), but it really, really helps me.
If you can join the other lovely people that already support me through Patreon, by pledging as little or as much as is viable to you that would help me to continue to create these spaces (maybe that is $2 for you? I don’t know — money is so relative to the individual!)
I know that I will make these spaces anyway (maybe I shouldn’t tell you that!) — it feels so important, but it is nice to be able to do that with a bit of money, because we live in a world where we need money — I’m sure you know that already!
If you are unable to support me financially, then sharing this post — or subscribing and listening to the Ministry of Change podcast — also helps me immensely.
Thanks for bearing with me in this incredibly long post and thanks to everyone that has and is supporting this journey in whatever way you are supporting,
