If Bush was nonwhite he never would have won the Republican Primary. He’d be Ben Carson or Herman Cain or something. I’m big on identity — I think it is good that nonwhites are getting more political influence. I think it is good that the US is becoming more diverse and inclusive. White guys still overwhelmingly dominate politics and the highest levels of business. A more representative government is a good thing, and it will be more responsive to the needs of the increasingly diverse electorate. Instead of telling me that I have to reconcile “race issues” with my support of Hillary Clinton, perhaps you should ask why the overwhelmingly majority of nonwhite voters supported Clinton in the primary and the general, against the candidates you prefer. Why do poor Black people overwhelmingly support Clinton? Perhaps you should ask some of them.
