Now we as a collective of people engaged in the Web has no excuses left. Since both Lara Callender Hogan and Ilya Grigorik have published their books for free on their websites, all of us have to comply to web performance optimization best practices.

Lara, working at Etsy, found out that 160 Kb of additional images made the bounce rate increase a stunning 12%. For some, that might put your company on a path towards bankruptcy.
