Blogs: Week of 28 Oct — 3 Nov

What did you do this past week?
This week, I registered for classes for next year. I didn’t get the classes I really wanted, but my current schedule is fine too. All of my classes are piled onto Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I also enjoyed working on Darwin with my partner this week. Today I went to an on-campus play in the SAC. It was very… interesting and philosophical, to say the least. One girl straight up took off her shirt and everything underneath; it was pretty intense. The play made me think about who in my life would be willing to sacrifice their lives for me, which made me think of my parents haha. I was also amazed at how well the actors were able to remember their super long and convoluted lines.
What’s in your way?
Right now, preparing for tests is in my way. I have an algorithms test on Monday, and I literally know nothing and have not even started studying, so I am a bit concerned. There is a lot to cover and learn so I’ll be grinding tomorrow. I also have another test the day after it but that test is more crammable so I’m less worried about it.
What will you do next week?
Next week, I will take my tests and try to be happy.
What was your experience of the vector implementation? (this question will vary, week to week)
Me and my HackerRank partner never actually got our code to compile because of some bug we couldn’t figure out, so hopefully, Professor Downing will post the code for it soon. Other than that, I feel like it was intuitive and made sense when I look at it in hindsight. Well, for the most part. I’m not sure I would be able to reproduce the correct code myself so I should probably review it again.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My tip-of-the-week is the chrome extension UT Registration Plus. It easily links you to grade distributions of a class, the professor for that class’ past syllabi, RateMyProfessor page, and eCIS ratings. It also has other functionalities and makes registering so much easier.
