Rapid mourns Sergei Mandreko

The SK Rapid mourns Sergei Mandreko. The former midfielder died on Tuesday after a long, heavy illness. This was announced by the club in a broadcast. Mandreko came to Rapid in 1992 from his homeland, today’s Tajikistan, and played a total of 128 competitive games for the green-white until 1997, in which he scored 19 Goals. Then he moved to Hertha BSC and in a further consequence for VfL Bochum. In Germany he came to 67 missions in the Bundesliga and 26 lots in the 2nd Bundesliga. Then he let his career ended in Burgenland, first at the SV Mattersburg and later in Parndorf.

His greatest successes celebrated Mandreko, the international matches for the CIS, Russia and Tajikistan completed, of course with Rapid. In 1995, he was with the Hütteldorfern Cup winners, a year later he took on the side of his species Zoran Barisic, Dietmar Kühbauer and Stephan Marasek — the four Schwähnbrüder formed the legendary quartet of the green-white “Dalton’s” — the championship title and urge to go to the European Cupholders Cup winner.

Mandreko suffered from the incurable nervous disease as he is now in the still young age of 50 years. “It was clear that the day can not be waiting for a long time with this news, yet I am incredibly sad today and also wants to personally and on behalf of the SK Rapid to all the survivors, especially his wife Inga and his children. Anastasia And Vladimir, pronounce our sincere condolences, “his longtime friend Barisic responded to the sad news. “Sergej fought this terrible disease over all the years more than bravely and I will always remember him as a great man and wonderful companion.”
