#1 Pear and Blue Cheese Fritter
A delicious yet unexpected combination from my Café 4 One.
Sometimes, both the body and the mind are hungry for new unexpected combinations. This Pear and Blue Cheese Fritter with Sour Cream satisfied both. The eyes devoured this delicious dish even before the plate hit the table.
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups self-raising flour
2 eggs
2/3 cup buttermilk
2 pears, finely diced
50g hard blue cheese, crumbled
1 bunch chives, chopped finely
2 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup sour cream
sliced pear extra
I whisked together the flour, eggs and buttermilk then I added the diced pear, crumbled cheese and most of the chives. I reserved some of the chives for the garnish to finish of the look of the dish.
Adding some oil to the frying pan on medium heat, I cooked these delicious fritters in two batches using about a tablespoon for each one.
I made a basic salad using rocket, mango and a nice balsamic glaze (fig) then placed the fritters on top of this. I cooked some bacon to a nice crispy consistency, added that to the plate then topped it with the sliced pear, chives and a dollop or sour cream.
These fritters would also taste well with salmon slices and possibly poached eggs. Avocado could also be used in the salad along with some red capsicum/peppers.
Café 4 One is my home cooking. I don’t really enjoy cooking that much but I love eating nice healthy well presented foods and at times entertaining friends and seeing their reaction. A little herbs and spices go a long way.

Another way to serve the fritters is on a bed of fresh green salad leaves, rocket, mango, figs, avocado, crisp bacon pieces, tomato and a nice balsamic gaze. The one I used on this was a sophisticated fig glaze. Use whatever you have and modify to your own taste. You will hardly go wrong!
