thank you so much for reading and for your thoughtful and kind response. A lot of people agree with you that there is ambiguity on this point but for me, Wallace’s treatment of Deckard seemed dispositive. Like: if Deckard is human, what is the point of their conversation, exactly?

(Mind you, the whole idea that a replicant man/woman would be physically equipped to bear a child is a little bit difficult to accept on its face, given the circumstances in which they are said to have been made.)
