What was that Churchill quote- Democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried. I guess Washington wasn’t perfect but he was no George III or Caesar either. He stepped down from power and prevented the Military from taking over after the War. I’m sure some of his motivation was to have a legacy that and plus since he was so wealthy, he didn’t need anymore money and could afford to be the leader he was.

The founders were afraid of the 2 M’s — Monarchy and the Masses. They left us with more opportunities than ever before in history. In todays society if you are not a total loser you can be pretty comfortable compare to most humans of the past. And if you don’t watch too much TV you can make a difference for the good. So I guess it’s really not all that bad.
