Seeking Forgiveness

We’re humans. We’re not perfect. We make mistakes. Allah deliberately created us with imperfections. This means it’s natural for us to err. To sin. But, why would He create us with imperfections without providing the room for us to atone for our sins? This means He is ready to forgive us when we sin.

Shaytan makes it look like when we fall into sin, we don’t have to look back. From smaller sins come greater ones. It gets to a point and we think, “no, I can’t go back to my Creator now. It’s too late”. But this isn’t true. No matter how enormous our sins are, Allah is ready to forgive us. Especially when we seek forgiveness with good intentions. With a sincere mindset. With the heart that we won’t go back to those sins. Allah is All -Forgiving. He’s Al-Ghaffar. He is Ar-Raheem. He’s more merciful than we think He is. He is compassionate. He is beneficent.

The mercy of Allah is an ocean. Our sins are a lump of clay clenched between the beak of a pigeon. The pigeon is perched on the branch of a tree at the edge of that ocean. It only has to open its beak (Excerpt From Leila Aboulela’s Minaret).

So, we only have to pour our heart to Him. Talk to Him. And sincerely seek His forgiveness. He is ready to forgive us. He will. Again, Allah is more merciful than we think He is.

Allah takes joy in little acts. Those tiny acts we think are worthless. The ones we do without expecting from them any rewards. This shows how loving our Creator is. He’s our Rabb.

Let’s, therefore, seek His forgiveness. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever increases his prayers for forgiveness, Allah will grant him relief from every worry, a way out from every hardship, and provide for him in ways he does not expect.”

Let’s atone for our sins while we still can. While we’re still alive. Only He can forgive us. May He forgive our sins.
