Recently I have encountered a strange situation on Instagram. One of my photos was getting fake likes, and I didn’t know who was doing that. The number of likes was growing extremely rapidly, and I had no clue how to solve it. Likes were coming from empty accounts with no photos, followers, and following. It was obvious that there were no real people behind those accounts.

Fake likes even if they are free are not a good thing for bloggers. Instagram algorithms track suspicious activity and can even punish you for that. Even though I wasn’t using these methods personally, Instagram algorithms perceive it as I am cheating to promote my account.

So what are the ways to solve the issue with fake likes? I am going to list three methods.

  1. Delete the post. The easiest way to solve the problem is post deletion. However, if you are planning your Instagram layout in advance, post deletion may spoil it. In addition, it means that all likes and comments you received before are going to be deleted too.
  2. Make your account private. Scammers would be not able to reach your post anymore because such cheating programs require the target account to be public. This trick is possible to do only using a personal account. So if you have a business account you need to shift it to a personal account. There are two cons to this method. First, after switching back to the public Instagram account, your post will possibly get fake likes again. Second, if you have a business account you will lose statistics to all your posts and stories when making your account personal.
  3. Archive your post. In the Instagram settings, there is an option to “archive” a post. As a result, no one will access it, except for the author. Then wait for a few seconds and unarchive the post. You will have it back on your Instagram feed. The post will not get fake likes any more! When you archive the post, its old unique link becomes unavailable, therefore scammers can’t access it. When you unarchive the post, it gets a completely new unique link. Fake likes continue reaching the old link, which already doesn’t exist in the Instagram system. Thus, this simple procedure solves the problem with fake likes quickly and painlessly.

If you find this information useful, please, clap for my post and leave a comment. I would really appreciate any feedback from you.
