People Don’t Like It When Your Sexual Assault Doesn’t Fit a Certain Narrative
Jordan Bray

Great piece. First of all, Im sorry you had to experience such violence. I think the burdens we women carry as a whole (white, black) make our lives so hard to live. To be honest I was walking on egg shells reading this, expecting something super ignorant. I appreciate that you recognize white privilege in the aggressor and victim dynamic. I feel like you’re a special case, but despite the fact that you are white and are by default privileged, the trials you’ve faced are valid. You were a victim and didn’t deserve it.

“Ultimately, white people as a collective are to blame for the circumstances that make race conversations so hard to have.”

Spot on.
