The time of our lives…NOT! ( Day 1)

It all started the 20th of February in Antwerp

I promised you more details about Saba in my first blog, but as Saba was to happen not soon enough we booked a trip to Antwerp, closer and cheaper, that’s at least what we thought!
Let me take you back to the moment everything started. I don’t remember that anymore, but I know that we were very happy that we finally could go away. Friday was the last day of school and I we already started packing everything to leave on Monday. On Sunday, we doubled checked if we had everything. You never know, right? You might forget something they don’t sell in another city, like your toothbrush! Anyhow…It was finally Monday, THE 20TH, the day when our adventure began.
As we are saving to go visit my hometown Curacao, affordable was the name of this vacation. We booked an affordable transportation, FLIXBUS {never again}, we stayed in Century hotel in the centrum of Antwerp right across the famous central station of Antwerp, it wasn’t that bad, but there was only the main facilities you need! A bed, a bathroom, a television, toilet and Wi-Fi. We arrived at the hotel around 16.00 o clock maybe to check-in and we got help at 16.30 maybe. Not a good beginning, but we were so happy that we were finally on vacation that we didn’t bothered to complain. We finally got the room card and went upstairs, we were staying on the 8th floor, because I asked for an upper-stored room based on availability. Wrong choice, I thought maybe we could have a view on the city… Nope, we had a view on the roof of the central station…*Beautiful!
As we dropped all our stuff in the room we immediately got back out to get to know the city. We thought to have a small meal before dinner. So, we stopped by the McDonalds. We only ordered 2 burgers and two milk shakes at the kiosk and we waited for about 20 minutes. For two burgers and two milkshakes! That was the slowest fast-food service I ever had in my life! This was the first experienced we had that we started to think about the Netherlands.
After having our warm burgers, we saw around 30 diamond stores before we found a chocolate store. We saw heaven, when we found this chocolate store called *Del Rey. A bit expensive store, but the chocolates are truly delicious.
For dinner, we choose something affordable again, Pizza hut, also a wrong choice! I had a salmon pizza to vary, was not tasty at all. Who thought of putting salmon on a pizza? Pizza hut duh! Too salty and too greasy. My boyfriend was too sweet and the salad buffet wasn’t hygienic either. The plus point is that we could had have as much soft drink as we wanted and the soup was also OK. It was also only 10 euros for an entree, the pizza, the drink and a dessert.
After 18.00 every store was already closed, so after dinner we went back to the hotel. Around 00.30 we went outside again cause my boyfriend wanted to have a cigarette and it wasn’t allowed in the room. Was nice to see the city around those times. As we came back to the hotel I started to looked up where we can have breakfast and what we can do the whole day at Antwerp the second day.

As we went to sleep late we missed the breakfast of the hotel, lucky for us, we didn’t book that beforehand. And the other option I had in mind we were also too late for…not a good beginning!
