UX Class Day 1
On my first day of class I was introduced to the wonderful world of User Experience Design. We were given our capsule project that has to reflect on creating an app that would help make Toronto a better place. The given categories were Sustainability, Community, Education, Wellness and Safety.
I found myself struggling to find an idea that would be super beneficial to other people. After thinking through various problems I could tackle in Toronto, I decided to work on an idea dealing with education, tourism and community. I thought to myself.. how many people really know about the history of Toronto? It would be really cool if I could create an app prototype that deals with finding information about the various buildings in Toronto from a historical perspective. I want to incorporate a camera into my app that would be able to pick up on buildings in the area using geolocation and then show me an augmented version of reality. I chose to do a historical sites of Toronto app because I feel like it would educate people about the history of the city. It could bring together a community of city explorers trying to find out more about the mysteries in Toronto. Perhaps there will be some sort of social community devoted to people visiting particular historical sites and posting images about them through Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
I think creating an app like this would boost tourism in Toronto and it would bring about more educated people and a sense of community of everyone sharing the beauties of the city.
