Writing regularly
Though today is already February and one month of the new year has gone, I have decided to promise myself one thing in this year. It’s only one thing, but I am sure it’ll influence me a lot.
Write regularly.
I will describe two points why I think this is so important.
Better new things acquiring/learning.
I remember my school/university years. When did I acquire more new things? The answer is easy — when I participated in discussions or when I wrote my opinions on a subject on paper. It became clearly to me that I didn’t understand the subject entirely if I didn’t write about the subject by my own words. To find answers to my personal questions it’s necessary for me to retell the subject to paper and express my opinion. Such an approach disclosed meanings of the subject deeper to me. When answers were found, my mind got a new info that was related to my previous knowledge as I had asked questions based on this knowledge. This new info was with me much longer (some of it is still with me) comparing to passive listening/reading. If I ask myself what prevents myself from doing this now, it is laziness. It’s more interesting to read a new book than to describe my opinion on the read one. But I believe that I acquire only 30% of the book if I don’t write my opinion on it. To think and write is much harder than listen and read.
Better decision making.
I’ve read several articles about neuron connections but I haven’t written about it:) So, I don’t remember exact terms that scientists use to describe our brain system, but I remember meaning. The main think is it is easier to learn something if this is related to your previews mental maps/neuron connections. When something new happens, I use my previous experience to react to it. What exact experience do I use? Most often, the latest one related to the case. May be someone takes into account all cases related to a new one, but it’s not about me. I understand that I would like to review a new case from theoretical point of view and take into account my previous similar cases. To realize this desire it’s necessary for me to write about any meaningful experience. It allows me to remember old cases better and take them into account. It’s a way I see to improve my actions based on my previous experience.
I plan to write once a week about my experience, read books, articles. I hope I’ll be succeeded:)
